Why Not Tour A National Historical Landmark This Holiday?

A National Historic Landmark, Marble House is located at 596 Bellevue Ave., Newport, Rhode Island. Open daily and decorated for the holidays until January 4, 2009, this summer beach cottage is a favorite of Beach House Finds. The Newport Beach house was built between 1888 and 1892 for Mr. and Mrs. William K. Vanderbilt, as a summer house, or "cottage", as Newporters called them. Marble House was a social and architectural landmark in Newport's legendary resort of opulent stone palaces. The cost of the house was reported to be $11 million, of which $7 million was spent on 500,000 cubic feet of marble. Upon its completion, Mr. Vanderbilt gave the house to his wife, Alva Vanderbilt a leading hostess in Newport society as a 39th birthday present.

On December 27, 2008 you can spend the Holiday Evening at The Breakers with a leisurely self-guided evening tour through the historical landmark as you enjoy live holiday music and holiday sweets, eggnog and cider.

Tickets are $25.00 for Adults and can be purchased online from
The Preservation Society of Newport County or at the Breakers.

Celebrating Christmas at The Beach House

Christmas At The Beach Is Always Nautical

Christmas Eve is upon us and living on the beach is always a beautiful way to spend the Holiday. A Beach House sets the tone for a nautical Christmas theme. Being close to water is always a mystical seas side delight. A simple theme of Starfish was our decorating table top focus for our beach house this Holiday. Beach House Finds, staff found this tropical beach Christmas theme to be a simple inexpensive way of setting the table for the Holidays.
Pine cones collected in the nearby woods, Starfish, evergreens picked from the back yard, glass jars, white pearled Christmas ball ornaments are mixed in with the holiday nautical beach table theme. This is simply arranged and placed on a white table cloth. For the Beach House Christmas tree, pointsettia's and starfish decorate a beautiful Beach House Christmas tree.

Why Is Geogia On Beach House Finds Mind?

Think live oaks hung with Spanish moss that form canopies all over the island. Owning a three-bedroom three-bath house one block from the beach that is a 15-minute drive over the causeway to Brunswick, and another hour and 15 minutes to the airport in Savannah, Georgia.

Beach house finds along with the New York Times found this June Bright Cottage which is neo-traditional with the necessary modern comforts as well as the charm of beach cottages of the past. The cottage has two porches, which wrap from front to back and are accessible from every room, think hammocks, swings, and rocking chairs from which to capture spectacular views of ocean and marsh.

The island the cottage is situated on is 12 miles long and three miles wide, has seven golf courses, bike paths and several waterfront stretches devoted to fishing and swimming. Kayak tours, dolphin tours and ghost tours of the local light house. Plus the island’s restaurants and boutiques are within walking distance of the house. This is truly a beach house find!

How to Vacation and Treasure Hunt at Your Beach House

Beach House Finds CELESTIAL BY THE SEA an oceanfront beach rent in Lincoln City, Oregon. The beach house find is a place to view the ocean, and it has views North to Cascade Head and South to the Salishan Spit. Oregon has exciting storms, blissful sunsets, moonlight beams and starlit nights. Lincoln City, is a favorite vacation destination in the Northwest and is located on the Central Oregon Coast. Imagine strolling down the coastline and stumbling upon a richly colorful hand blown glass float. Years ago, people would find treasures like these drifting ashore from places near and far. Today, most floats are made of other materials and are absent color all together; unless of course you visit Lincoln City, Oregon. In recent years, the city has revived this treasure hunt and now places glass floats on the beach for people to find and enjoy. These one of a kind floats are numbered and can be registered with the local Chamber of Commerce making them a truly special piece of memorabilia. Visit the beaches of Lincoln City and find a glass float to take home with you. Lincoln City is also known as the kite flying capital of the world, many travel great distances to participate in this beach goer tradition.

Is Small the New Large In Beach Cottages?

Images by Ben Anders

London based Danish designer Nina Tolstrup of Studiomama wanted a weekend retreat to escape life in so she bought a small plot of land on the shore in a seaside town located in northeast Kent. The 388-square-foot structure is located in the middle of a row of 25 tiny cottages, sits on galvanized steel stilts, and is clad with cedar shingles. The interior is sawn softwood and the focus is the sea view. A sleeping loft accommodates Ms. Tolstrup and her husband, and her two children who sleep in bunks. Nina has designed this beach house to be pared down to the essentials: eat, drink, sleep, and view. We think it is the perfect Beach house find!
